In addition to leading a Yiddish conversations course, being a member of the NBSC (North Berkeley Senior Center) Trip Committee, BAHA (Berkeley Architecture Heritage Association), and the Berkeley Historical Society, Allen is often sited at photography exhibits, discussions and lectures. Allen is also a volunteer member of the City of Berkeley's Commission on Aging, and the Advisory Council for NBSC. The Commission on Aging works to promote and communicate the needs of older adults to the city council. Likewise, each of Berkeley's senior centers have and Advisory Council, which promotes and communicates the needs of center participants to center administrators and employees.
