Cheryl Beauchamp, age 65
Cheryl lives at Mable Howard Apartments, at the time of photographing, owned by Oakland Community Housing Inc., a non-profit property management company. Mable Howard was built by Resources for Community Development with the support of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Under HUD Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program, non-profit developers can receive capital advances for construction that do not need to be repaid as long as the project serves very low-income persons age 62+ for at least 40 years. In addition, HUD 202 provides non-profit property managers with rent subsidies to help keep units affordable.
